(via First Listen: Fiona Apple, ‘The Idler Wheel…’ : NPR) OH GOOD SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO TONIGHT I’ve already listened to this album twice, and I love it.  I’ve hitherto been a casual Fiona fan: I liked her music whenever I heard it, but I rarely felt compelled to return to it.  This time, though, I plan to buy The Idler Wheel… and study it thoroughly.  I appreciate the minimal arrangements, the occasional dips into polytonality, and the deliberately raw singing.  I like the fact that, although the songs themselves are catchy and melodic, the album as a whole makes no attempt to be radio-friendly.  Occasional lyrics from the album have already inhabited my head.  I hear self-actualization @ work on The Idler Wheel… and it makes me happy.

OH GOOD SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO TONIGHT
